Seven Commandos Beach El Nido, Paradise On Palawan

Seven Commandos Beach can only be reached by sea and is one stop on the world famous El Nido Boat Tour A.

A small beach with a rich history, you won’t be disappointed by the powdery-gold sand and gentle lapping waves. We will mention however, this beach was busy when we visited as part of our Boat Tour but we have heard rumours of a way to access the beach without a tour...more on this later.

By our boat captain we were given an hour to enjoy the shallow water, grab a drink from the beach bar and explore the picture perfect row of coconut nut trees that line the beach. There was also a volleyball net and a vibrant atmosphere that we hadn’t experienced on many other beaches before.

El Nido is most famous for its world-class island hopping tours. Make sure to not get scammed and book with a reputable company!

Where Is Seven Commandos Beach?

Seven Commandos Beach in Palawan can be found just outside the town of El Nido around the corner from El Nido Port. Situated South of the main hub and often accessed by sea as part of Boat Tour A. Check Out Our Experience Of The Boat Tour Here or Easily Book Your Tour Through Viator Here.

How To Get To Seven Commandos Beach?

The main way to access Seven Commandos Beach is via El Nido Boat Tour A. Many people stop here first but during our tour the beach was our last stop making it a perfect place to chill out after a long day snorkelling.

The secret way to access Seven Commandos Beach when no one is around is via hiring a kayak from Corong-Corong beach for ₽500 and paddling your way to the beach. If you choose this option, head before 11am to beat most of the tours or at sunset. Enjoy a Buko (cold coconut) on your own private beach!

We recommend using 12Go to book Ferries & Busses, also Rome2Rio for all of your travel planning needs in Asia.

Seven Commandos Beach Description

The beach is a classic paradise, lined with palm trees, white sand and azure water. We stayed here for an hour exploring the beach and bathing in the shallow water. If you plan on clambering over the rocks and swimming further out beware the rocks can be sharp aswell as sea urchins so we recommend wearing Water Shoes.

Facilities include a beach bar where you can get buko, a volleyball net and not much else, a perfect place to relax. I feel it’s important to mention there was some litter towards the back of the beach, please consider your responsibility as a tourist and take your rubbish with you or even better do a little beach clean while you’re there.

Seven Commandos Beach History

As legend goes, the beach was aptly named as seven Japanese commandos were stranded after their submarine sank and sought refuge on the island during world war 2. The Captains sometimes make up their own myths and we couldn’t find much more information on this event but hey, that adds to the mystery and allure of the beach!

This is a must in El Nido! We went on Tour A during off-season and were told it gets extremely busy so maybe try out one of the other Tours on offer if you are visiting at peak season.

Duli Beach is a locals surfing beach with azure water, palm trees and white sand. Although a little drive away, we think it’s worth it.

Off The Beaten Track: Head To Port Barton

A 3 hour drive from El Nido, Port Barton is a small fishing village which is less developed but still set up for tourism. We loved it here and the Boat Tour is amazing.

Best Place To Eat: Fuego El Nido Proper Burgers

El Nido is packed full with Western restaurants but we were disappointed with nearly all our meals. So take our advice, spend a bit more and go get yourself an amazing burger.

Top Tips For Travelling The Philippines

If you’re visiting the Philippines here are our top travel tips:

  1. Book flights in advance - they can become expensive if you leave it last minute… oh and check your luggage allowance to skip expensive check in fees at the airport. Don't forget your Apple Airtags to track your bags

  2. Agree on taxi prices upfront - when getting into a tuk-tuk, tricycle or taxi, make sure you agree on a price or they have a meter, so many tourists get ripped off with a huge price tag at the end of the ride.

  3. Take it slow - don't feel the need to see all the islands, we recommend picking a few and doing them properly. See the island in full, find some locals and sing Karaoke..

  4. Embrace the chaos and get stuck in, the locals are friendly and love to help and share information about their home!

  5. For a checklist of what's needed to pack for your trip, read: How to Pack for Backpacking to South East Asia: Backpacking Essentials and Accessories

We love our DJI Mini for all of our drone shots!
