Malibu Beach, Koh Phangan can be found in the north of the island and is a beautiful headland with white powdery sand. Close to the town of Chaloklum which has a 7/11, pharmacy and restaurants making it a great place to visit for a day trip. You can also find Malibu Beach Bungalows here, a luxury resort with an outdoor pool and direct access to the beach.

With the finest sand on the island, a palm tree fringe to provide shade and a small local town, we loved this Thai paradise. Although the water isn’t ideal for swimming due to how shallow it is, we saw a few groups of backpackers playing catch in the waves to cool off.

Where Is Malibu Beach Koh Phangan?

Malibu Beach is located in the northern part of Koh Phangan near the village of Chaloklum. The north of the island is more secluded and less crowded than the party beaches of Haad Rin and is a great area to explore via scooter.

How To Get To Malibu Beach, Koh Phangan?

You can get to Malibu Beach by motorbike, taxi, or a short walk from Chaloklum village, where you'll find a few accommodation options. The drive from Thong Sala, the main port on the island, takes around 30 minutes and if you're arriving by scooter, you can park near Malibu Beach Bungalows or in the town. From Malibu Bungalows, cross the wooden bridge and head toward the headland. Alternatively, if you're coming from the town, walk along Chalok Lam Beach until you reach Malibu Beach.

What To Expect At Malibu Beach, Koh Phangan

Although Malibu Beach is small it is connected to the larger Chalok Lam Beach meaning there’s ample space for you to find a spot all to yourself. The sand on the headland is probably the best we’ve ever experienced, powdery, soft and white making it the perfect space to relax and grab a cocktail from one of the beachfront bars.

During high tide, swimming is possible, though the waters are typically shallow, making the beach ideal for wading, sunbathing or enjoying games with friends.

What To Bring To Malibu Beach

You don’t need much for Malibu Beach but remember your sun cream, swimming Costume and  microfibre towel. The towels come with a small zip pocket in the corner to keep valuables safe from the sand, and we make sure to keep our phones in these Waterproof Phone Cases.

What’s Near Malibu Beach?

Not far from the beach you can find Chaloklum Village with local restaurants and cafes perfect for a midday stop. The village also has other amenities including a 7/11, pharmacy and many dive shops.

If you’ve made the journey from Thong Sala or Haad Rin then you could combine it with the Khao Ra Viewpoint hike in the middle of Koh Phangan.
