The Plunge | 75m Fall

The Plunge

The plunge (one of the world’s highest canyon swings) will throw you 75 metres into a stunning jungle canyon. The scaffold platform sits 200 metres above the canyon floor. After signing your life away you sit at the end of the protruding structure. You are then lowered down to dangle above the drop. After a call of ‘BOMBS AWAY’ you will free fall for around 4 seconds before being caught by the rope and then you will swing back and forth over the breath-taking view.

The Plunge is the scariest activity you can do at Danao Adventure Park but well worth the bragging rights as being the most extreme adventure ride in the park.

Suislide (Zip Line) Danao Adventure Park

Suislide is Danao’s 500 metre Zipline. One of the highest in the country, you will be greeted with views of the Wahig River 200 metres below. You travel both ways on the zipline (back and forth) with a short walk between the two lines. Want to experience the canyon without the adrenaline? Try the Skyride Below…

Sky Ride Danao Adventure Park

Parallel to the Zipwire but with less adrenaline you can enjoy to skyride. Sat in a cable car you will be flown over the canyon at a slow pace for you to soak in the view and enjoy the ride.

Sea of Clouds Danao Adventure Park

Cloud inversions or temperature inversions are where you have a cold layer of air trapped at lower ground, usually seen from the peaks of thousand foot mountains. Bohol however is home to the Sea of Clouds located in Danao, witness this natural phenomenon from the peak of one of the famous Chocolate Hills.

We recommend grabbing a coffee in KapeSky after, a beautiful Cafe perched on the edge of a fantastic viewpoint with lovely owners. If you’re staying at Danao Adventure Park, they can organise the trip for you, a vehicle will be waiting outside at 4am for you which will drive you up to the start of the hike, from there a guide and your driver will accompany you up and along the Chocolate Hills to witness a world class sunrise and cloud inversion. A true bucket list moment!

How To Get To Danao Adventure Park From Tagbilaran?

The first and more expensive way of getting to Danao is by hiring a private car which ranges from 3000-5000, if you’re on a budget like us this is a crazy price tag.

If you would like to visit Danao by public transport then follow these steps:

  • Catch the bus (75) or van (140) with the route Tagbilaran-Danao from the Dao bus terminal in Tagbilaran City centre. Vans run more frequently however below is the schedule for the busses:

  • Morning 5:00am, 6:00am, 8:00am

  • Afternoon: 12:00 noon, 1:00pm, 2:00pm, 3:00pm, 4:30pm and 6:30pm as the last trip

  • The bus and van will only take you to Poblacion in Danao centre, from here a motor for hire will be available to bring you to the Adventure Park for 50-100 or to Kape Sky for roughly ₽80 per person. Drivers with an Adventure Park sticker are known to have friendlier prices.

How To Get To Danao Adventure Park From Panglao?

From Panglao, you can follow the steps mentioned above once you reach the Dao bus terminal. In order to do so, first you can jump on a Jeepney from Alona with the sign ‘Tagbilaran’ for only 25 and let the driver know you're getting off at Dao Bus Terminal. From there grab the bus or van to Danao described above.

Alternatively we recommend a private taxi for the short trip from Panglao to Tagbiliran then a shared van or bus.

We recommend using 12Go to book Ferries & Busses, also Rome2Rio for all of your travel planning needs in Asia.

What's Nearby In The Local Area And Where To Stay?

If you’re up in Danao for the night we recommend staying at the Danao Adventure Park accommodation as the rooms are very nice and fairly low priced, another amazing option is ‘KapeSky’, a small camping cabin/café nestled in the Bohol mountains near the Sea Of Clouds.

This is an absolute must-do when in Danao and staying the night. Although it’s an early 4am wake up call, it’s well worth it. Watching the sun rise of the chocolate hills with a cloud inversion is an amazing site normally witnessed from the peaks of mountains. From KapeSky the Sea Of Clouds is just a short walk, however from Danao adventure park it is a 300 (per person) taxi ride, well worth it in our opinion.

If you’re just visiting for the day you will probably be kept busy enough with just the adventure park itself, grab some lunch at the onsite café as the food was amazing - specifically the sweet & sour pork.

Top Things To Do On Bohol

We stayed 5 nights on Bohol and wished we had more. It is a bigger island compared to Siargao and Siquijor so if you want to explore it all, a week would do it justice or you could just party on the famous Panglao island.

Top Pick: Tarsier Sanctuary

A unique sanctuary where the Tarsiers choose to return themselves. You're not allowed to touch the tarsier but instead a guide will take your photos while you observe from a distance. A great way to learn about and experience such a unique species.

Best Adventure: Sea Of Clouds

Standing up high on a chocolate hill before sunrise, you can experience the sea of clouds, a perfect sheet of white fluffy clouds sitting neatly above the town surrounded by mountains.

Bohol is surrounded by a rich marine eco-system with pristine white sand islands and crystal clear blue water. This tour offers an amazing day out.

Top Tips For Travelling Bohol

Below we share our favourite tips for travelling Bohol:

  1. The Alona Beach area is the busiest tourist spot with beautiful beaches and plenty of bars and restaurants, however expect a lot of people.

  2. Nuts Huts on the banks of the Loboc River is a paradise in nature! A much more authentic place to stay than Alona Beach. Book here.

  3. Use an E-sim like Airalo to stay connected all over the island, don’t rely on homestay’s WiFi.

  4. Bohol is actually a huge island unlike its neighbour Siquijor, so a Land Tour is more suitable than using public transport between the attractions.

  5. The marine ecosystem around Bohol is exceptional, there are plenty of Island Hopping Tours and Dolphin Spotting experiences you can join.

  6. Danao Adventure Park in the north is a great family & backpacker activity!

Final Thoughts on Danao Adventure Park

Danao Adventure Park is quite far out of the way from the standard tourist attractions on Bohol, but we found it surprisingly easy to get to from Tagbilaran. In our opinion it’s worth two nights up in Danao, one at the adventure park and the other at KapeSky with a visit to the Sea Of Clouds the next morning. Combined with the plunge which is the highest canyon swing in the world, you will have an amazing time in a slightly quieter section of Bohol compared to the hustle and bustle of Alona Beach. The Adventure Park also offers the full adventure tour package for families that want to go on all the rides.
