Bugak Cold Spring: A Peaceful Haven In Siargao
If you’re looking for peace and quiet on bustling Siargao, Bugak Spring Resort is a hidden pool a short drive away from the main town of General Luna. Just off the road but hidden within the trees you can find the refreshing pool along with boats for hire, shade, and the sounds of nature - the best thing, we were the only people there.
Finding a secluded place to cool off on a tropical island as popular as Siargao isn’t always the easiest but Bugak Cold Spring, especially in the morning can be your own paradise. Also just a stones throw away you can also find the larger Beto Spring, meaning you can explore both easily within one morning.

Where Is Bugak Cold Spring Siargao?
Bugak Cold Spring is found on the east of Siargao past the towns of Libertad and Barangay Santa Fe. The spring can be found off a small road that is easily accessible by scooter.
How To Get To Bugak Cold Spring?
On the island of Siargao we recommend hiring a scooter, the roads are well maintained and this really is the easiest and cheapest way to get around. From the main hub of General Luna Bugak Spring is only a 20 minute drive and we hired our scooter for ₽300 a day. The spring is signposted from the road and there is a small area to park your scooter just outside the spring entrance.
If you don't fancy driving a scooter in the hot midday heat we don't blame you! We recommend Hiring a Private Driver to take you around the island. This Budget Land Tour in Siargao has thousands of bookings and 4.5 star ratings!
What To Do At Bugak Cold Spring?
After paying the entrance fee you’ll make your way down a short path to the pool, the path is uneven but not too steep. Unfortunately, on my journey down I spotted lots of litter so please remember if you’re visiting take all your rubbish home as it tends to spoil the pristine nature so many of us are looking for.
At the bottom of the track you are greeted with crystal clear water that is perfect to cool off in, I would recommend wearing Water Shoes as some of the rocks beneath our feet were sharp.
At the side of the spring is a small shelter where you could enjoy cold drinks or some lunch (if you’re prepared and have packed some goodies) apart from that it will provide some shade from the Filipino sun.
Siargao's day trip to Sohoton Cove with Stingless Jellyfish is one to remember!
While swimming in the cooling waters, dip underwater and you might even glimpse the resident fish, therefore bring your goggles.
If you’re looking for a little more adventure why not hire one of the kayaks available for rent. We didn’t do this while we enjoyed the spring but there were a few boats resting on the bank ready to be taken out for a paddle through the mangrove. Still want more adventure? We recommend driving the 5 minute extra to the larger Beto Spring where they have a rope swing, boats and more...
How Much Is Entrance To Bugak Cold Spring
To enter the Cold Spring each person must pay an entrance fee of ₽20. There is a small but where you pay the attendant then you can make your way down to the spring.
Best Places To Stay Siargao
Siargao has lots of accommodation whether you’re looking for a surf school, a luxury resort or a budget hostel you’ll be able to find somewhere.
We recommend staying in the main hub of General Luna as this is where most of the restaurants are located, as well as easy access to most of Siargao's best tourist attractions. If you want to get away from the crowds you could head up north and stay in Pacifico, which is the northern hub of the island best known for being home to some of Siargao's best surf spots.
We use Booking.com, Agoda and HostelWorld for all of our stays in The Philippines!
Below we share some recommend places to stay in General Luna, Siargao:
Where We Stayed In General Luna
We chose the budget option of Dream Catcher Nipas when staying in General Luna mainly due to the kitchen which allowed us to cook our own breakfasts and lunches. These are very basic triangular huts which have mattresses on the floor so don't expect anything fancy, but the location is perfect for General Luna and the grounds are lovely.
We recommend a minimum of a week on Siargao, especially if you want to learn to surf. The island also has so many great activities for non-surfers to explore and it’s also a great island for digital nomads. Here’s our highlights.
Top Pick: Magpupungko Rock Pools
A natural attraction that is stunningly beautiful at low tide. You can spend a couple of hours exploring the beach, cliff jumping and swimming in the warm Tidal pools!
Can’t Miss: Learn To Surf
A must in Siargao due to the world famous waves, there are lots of beginner surf spots and shops offering surf lessons.
Best Beach: Pacifico Beach
A surf beach located North of the island with endless white sand, chill vibes and sunshine.
Off The Beaten Track: Tayangban Cave Pools
A short cave system with a crystal pool at the end to relax in.

Final Thoughts On Bugak Cold Spring
If you’re in the area spending the day Cold Spring hopping then add a Bugak to your list as it’s usefully quieter than others in this area. The place offers a refreshing escape surrounded by tropical greenery. If you only have time for one Cold Spring we would recommend Beto due to the size and array of activities on offer.
