Where Is Nuts Huts?
Located on the popular island of Bohol, Nuts Huts is perched high on the banks of the Loboc River, the accommodation is more central on the island away from the busy beaches.
Where Is The Loboc River?
The Loboc River is in the Bohol province of the Philippines. Bohol is a main tourist island in the Visayas. The source of the Loboc River is located in the town of Carmen, almost in the centre of Bohol.
How To Get To Nuts Huts?
If you’re arriving from the ferry port the first thing you need to do is go to the main bus terminal In Tagbilaran. Get a bus heading to Carmen. We got a non-aircon bus and although it was hot and busy it was manageable as the journey is around 1 hour. When you reach the town of Loboc, you are nearly there.
Now you have two options:
Ask the bus conductor if he can drop you off at the top of the hill by the access track for Nuts Huts. If this is not possible & you're dropped off in the Loboc town instead, just pay for a trike to the access road (we walked up the hill and regretted it in the heat).
Arrive by boat (see below)
Once at the access road it’s 800m to reception. If you’re on a scooter this road is very rough terrain so you need to be extra careful. Once you reach the end of the road a few steps will take you down to reception.
You can also get a private transfer from the airport to your hotel here with 12Go.
By Boat
Another option, and if you want to arrive in style is to get a water taxi. Get dropped off at Sarimanok Boat Station and take a boat to Nuts Huts ₽150-200 per person.
Once you book your stay at Nuts Huts, the owner will send you a message to clarify the different routes so don't worry too much about getting there, the journey was easier than we thought.
What To Do At Nuts Huts
Kayak The Loboc River
You can hire a kayak for ₽300 per person, per hour at reception. We felt this was a little pricey but it really is worthwhile. Head out for a kayaking before 11 or after 3, this is once the boat tours have finished and you’ll be left on your own to explore the springs and waterfalls of the Loboc River.
Busay Waterfall and Loctob Spring
Head upstream to find Busay waterfall, here you can cool off, play in the waterfalls and relax. Head downstream to find Loctob spring.
While you’re exploring you will catch a glimpse of local life opposite, washing clothes in the river, collecting water and playing in the water to freshen up.
Swim In The Loboc River
A free activity that you can do anytime of the day. Bask in the sun rays or swim up and down the river. We went for a swim 2-3 times a days to freshen up. As you’re swimming listen to the sounds of the jungle all around you, this has to be a highlight!
Eat In Nuts Huts Restaurant
Nuts huts onsite restaurant is perfect for healthy, well balanced meals. At breakfast we recommend the homemade yogurt which is raved about! They also do a variety of lunch and dinner choices plus snacks.
We exclusively ate here during our stay at Nuts Huts, and each time are food was delicious.
Hire A Scooter To Explore Bohol
You can hire a scooter from the access road and explore the island of Bohol from nuts huts. Head up to the tarsier sanctuary or chocolate hills for a day trip. We really didn’t feel the need to leave Nuts Huts but it’s nice to know the options there.
Massage
Onsite you can get traditional massages or use the sauna. We didn’t try this out but it could be a great way to relax and unwind.
Hikes
If you’re into hikes (and it’s not too hot) ask at reception about the hikes that you can do from Nuts Huts. There a few trails that start at the accommodation, perfect if you love exploring the outdoors.

Cost Of Staying At Nuts Huts
This is one of the best things, it can be done on a budget. Each night we paid £15.82 (₽1190) for 2 people.
Rooms At Nuts Huts
There are a variety of rooms at Nuts Huts, each a traditional built building. We had a standard double which had an en-suite bathroom, electric, fan and bug net.
There are larger rooms with river views, but remember, you're in the jungle it's basic...perfect for the adventurous traveller.

Top Things To Do On Bohol
We stayed 5 nights on Bohol and wished we had more. It is a bigger island compared to Siargao and Siquijor so if you want to explore it all, a week would do it justice or you could just party on the famous Panglao island.
Top Pick: Tarsier Sanctuary
A unique sanctuary where the Tarsiers choose to return themselves. You're not allowed to touch the tarsier but instead a guide will take your photos while you observe from a distance. A great way to learn about and experience such a unique species.
Best Adventure: Sea Of Clouds
Standing up high on a chocolate hill before sunrise, you can experience the sea of clouds, a perfect sheet of white fluffy clouds sitting neatly above the town surrounded by mountains.
Off The Beaten Track: Danao Adventure Park
Looking for an adrenaline rush, head to Danao Adventure Park and try The Plunge, one of the world's largest canyon swings.

Top Tips For Travelling The Philippines
If you’re visiting the Philippines here are our top travel tips:
Book flights in advance - they can become expensive if you leave it last minute… oh and check your luggage allowance to skip expensive check in fees at the airport. Don't forget your Apple Airtags to track your bags
Agree on taxi prices upfront - when getting into a tuk-tuk, tricycle or taxi, make sure you agree on a price or they have a meter, so many tourists get ripped off with a huge price tag at the end of the ride.
Take it slow - don't feel the need to see all the islands, we recommend picking a few and doing them properly. See the island in full, find some locals and sing Karaoke..
Embrace the chaos and get stuck in, the locals are friendly and love to help and share information about their home!
