We will also share the other best areas to stay on the island that are up and coming including Pacifico (surf town) and Pilar (local fishing town).

Before diving into the best places to stay in Siargao, it's essential to understand the island. Travelling from one end to the other by scooter takes about an hour, so choosing the right location is key.
General Luna is considered by most backpackers the best place to stay on the island as it’s near beginner surf breaks as well as popular restaurants and bars which are great for socialising and the town has the best nightlife. You can find a range of accommodation here from beachfront resorts to cheap hostels as well as hotels with family rooms.

General Luna - The most popular area of the island perfect for all travellers. Known for its vibrant nightlife and busy atmosphere.
Malinao - A quieter area on the island known for high-end resorts and relaxing beaches.
Pacifico Beach - Perfect for people who want to surf without being in busy General Luna. This is an up and coming community, we think soon to be the next General Luna.
Pilar - A more remote option but close to some famous attractions such as Magpupungko Rock Pools and secluded beaches. Great for families and couples looking for a relaxed stay.

The main hub and best place to stay on Siargao Island. You can find everything you need here from local fruit stalls, surf spots, trendy shops and Filipino Kitchens. There’s plenty of places to choose from including cheap accommodation and luxury resorts.

Dream Catcher Nipas: Backpacking Couples, Solo Traveller
One of the most affordable places to stay in Siargao is Dream Catcher Nipas. Basic traditional huts with a mattress on the floor and air-con provides a simple place to stay in the heart of General Luna. Location is everything and here you can walk to restaurants, a market and laundrette. There is also an onsite kitchen that you are free to use. We loved staying here, the owners are lovely and it’s a great cheap accommodation in Siargao.
Hiraya Surf Hostel: Backpacker, Solo Travellers
This is one of the best cheap accommodations in Siargao. With access to an outdoor pool, garden and shared lounge the environment is relaxing and comfortable. The dormitory style rooms all come with air-con and the hostel throws events to create a community feel.
Sunlit Hostel: Backpackers, Solo Travellers
This unique hostel offers a bunk bed in a dormitory style room that is equipped with air-con and a shared bathroom. The hostel also has a games room with billiards, table tennis and darts. A fantastic social accommodation which is often quoted as one of the best hostels in Siargao. They also arrange nightly social events including family dinners, beer pong and quizzes.
Happiness Hostel: Couples, Backpackers, Solo Travellers
This hostel offers a private double room for couples or a bed in a dormitory. Just outside of town you can find Secret Spot Siargao which gives a quiet haven to couples looking to relax away from the noisy nightlife. The hotel offers massages and has a garden terrace area. Tropical Temple Resort has double rooms for couples and a dormitory for backpackers and solo travellers. The dorm is reasonably priced making this an affordable hotel in Siargao while you’re still getting a touch of luxury. Accommodation In Pacifico - Up and Coming Area To Stay In Siargao
A trendy surf town with a long sandy beach and stretching surf break. Here you can find an array of cafes, restaurants and bars. This area is much quieter than General Luna but still a good place to stay if you want to be out of the bustle but near the beach and good waves. As the area is less developed there are fewer accommodations to choose from but below we share the best hotels in Pacifico, Siargao.

Katre Siargao: Backpackers, Solo Travellers
On the Pacifico Beachfront you can find the budget hostel Katre Siargao which is one of the most affordable hostels in Pacifico Beach. The rooms have air-con and Wifi, there is also a shared kitchen you can use. This is one of the best hostels in the northern part of the island.
Calypso Surf and Dive: Couples, Backpackers
A budget homestay with basic but comfortable rooms and in a prime location opposite the beach. If you don’t want to stay in General Luna and hire a scooter, a couple of nights here will allow you to explore the quieter area of the island.

Pacifico Surf Bayay: Couples
A relaxing get-away for couples in the heart of Pacifico Beach. All rooms have a balcony with a garden view, private bathroom and balcony. The property is set in the middle of nature close to the beach and is the perfect quiet get away.
Luxury Resorts In Pacifico, Siargao $$$
A luxury resort located on Pacifico Beach with an outdoor pool, room service and garden. The resort also has a private beach area so you will always have a place on the sand. Some rooms offer a sea view and all rooms have air-con for a comfortable stay.
Accommodation In Pilar: Perfect For Families
Near popular attractions such as Magpupungko Rock pools is the area of Pilar. There are less accommodation options here but it’s a great place for a family holiday or anyone wanting to experience the beauty of the island away from the most touristic places.
NOGS Homestay: Couples, Families
Near Magpupungko Rock Pools you can find this homestay with a garden, children’s playground and breakfast. Some rooms have sea views while all units have air-con. This would make the perfect stay for a family visiting Siargao as they have a spacious family bungalow.

How To Get To Siargao?
The most popular way to get to Siargao is by flight, we recommend using a flight price aggregator such as WayAway to find the best prices before booking
Alternatively, if you're on a budget you can get an overnight ferry to Surigao City (8 hours) and then another ferry onto Siargao (1 hour). This is a much longer travel journey however a good option if you want to avoid the expensive flights.
How To Get To Cloud 9/General Luna From The Airport?
To get to Cloud 9 and General Luna from the airport, your best bet for a solo traveller is in a shared van for ₽375, this will drop you off on the main road where you need to be.
Alternatively, for small groups a tricycle is the cheapest option which should cost roughly ₽600 which works out cheaper when split between 2 or 3.
For families, we recommend a private taxi which should be the fastest and most comfortable option however expect to pay around ₽2k.
